Anna Ochoa-O'Leary

Anna Ochoa O’Leary (she, her, ella) is Professor and Head of the Mexican American Studies Department at the University of Arizona. Her current research and teaching interests has long focused on the undocumented immigrant experience, and the education, culture and urban politics of Mexican-origin/Mexican American/Chicano populations. She is twice a Fulbright Scholar for research on repatriated migrant women (2007-2008), and for research of educational goal setting among students accompanying parents returning to Mexico (2021-2022). In addition to the dozens of journal articles and book chapters on these topics, she developed a Chicano Studies textbook (Kendall Hunt Publishing, 2007), co-edited Unchartered Terrain: New Directions in Border Research Method and Ethics. (University of Arizona Press, 2013), and edited a two-volume encyclopedia, Undocumented Immigrants in the United States Today: An Encyclopedia of their Experiences (ABC-CLIO/Greenwood Press, 2014).
