Jesús Salas, a longtime labor organizer, educator, former UW System Regent, and benefactor of the Chican@ & Latin@ Studies Program, was honored earlier this month with a plaque at Alumni Park commemorating his achievements. He was one of eleven distinguished alunni of the University whose images are now visible in the park. Like many of the other honorees, Regent Salas spoke at a gathering to mark the unveiling of the plaques on October 7th. His remarks touched on his history of labor and civil rights work, as well as his long engagement with the University of Wisconsin Madison. Several faculty and staff members of the Chican@ & Latin@ Studies Program attended the event. The CLS Program congratulates Regent Salas for this recognition of his remarkable work.
