Lynet Uttal

A retired Professor of Counseling Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies, Lynet Uttal grew up in many places (Ann Arbor, Michigan; Oahu, Hawaii, Kyoto, Japan; Perth, Western Australia), and as an adult lived in Santa Cruz, Berkeley, and Oakland, California; Memphis, Tennessee, Phoenix, Arizona before arriving in Madison, Wisconsin. These multiple border crossings plus her biracial, binational, bireligious historical consciousness shape how she sees the world and what catches her attention. Prof. Uttal has also been an affiliate of the Asian American Studies Program and has served as its director.
