CLS faculty member and former director Armando Ibarra has won the “Hispanic Achievement of the Year” award from “La Movida” Radio, Madison’s Spanish-language radio station. The station will present Dr. Ibarra will be presented with the award at its 11th annual Hispanic Heritage month luncheon, October 13, 2021 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center at 11:30 am. Other organizations and community members to be recognized include the Latinx Consortium for Action, which provided emergency relief to Madison residents who were not eligible for Federal relief during 2020, Karen Menendez-Coller of Centro Hispano, Madison College President Jack Daniels, Tomas Ballesta of La Concha Bakery, David Aguayo of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce, and MMSD Bilingual Resource Specialist Clara Barbosa.
