This past summer, I interned abroad as a Legal Trainee at Meana Abogados in Barcelona, Spain. In this role, I assisted with case preparation in criminal, family, and civil law matters by reviewing case files, drafting and translating documents in Spanish, Catalan, and English, and attending court proceedings.
Beyond gaining meaningful legal experience in the field I hope to pursue, this internship taught me so much about myself. As the first in my family to attend college and study abroad, the experience was both challenging and transformative. Living and working in Spain helped me grow professionally, embrace a new culture, travel across Europe, and appreciate the richness of global perspectives. I formed lasting friendships, improved my Spanish while picking up a new language, and developed a deeper understanding of the world. It’s an experience I’ll always cherish.
