The Chican@ & Latin@ Studies Program is delighted to announce the opening of the new “Somos” development award competition for students and faculty. Thanks to the generous support of Dr. Andrea-Teresa Arenas and her husband, former Chancellor John Wiley, the Program will offer at least one faculty award, and at least one student award every spring starting this year. The awards will fund professional, academic, or artistic initiatives, preferably to be carried out during the summer or academic year following each competition. Examples of eligible initiatives include travel to professional meetings, research expenses, research assistants, travel to collections, training that would enhance teaching, and creative projects. Applications will be screened by a committee of CLSP faculty and staff who will determine the award winner or winners. Students may apply for the award through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH). Faculty may email their applications to the Program office. Please review application instructions for students and faculty before submitting. The Deadline for Spring 2020 awards is April 3rd.
